The temple is destroyed by Mahmud of Ghazni and this book deals with the historical facts woven interestingly with a story. આ વાર્તા 1937 માં લખાયી હતી.ગજની ના અપ્રહિત વિજેતા સુલતાન મહમૂદે સોમનાથ પર ચઢાઈ કરી ત્યારે હિન્દ ની અને ખાસ કરીને ગુજરાત ની શી દશા હતી તે ચીતરવાનો આમાં કૈંક પ્રયત્ન છે. એક તરફ વ્યવસ્થાશીલ પ્રચંડ વિજેતા અને બીજી તરફ વીરત્વ ના તણખા જેવા રાજવીઓ, એ બેની પહેલી વહેલી અથડામણ માં અનેક મહાકાવ્યોની સમૃદ્ધી સમાયેલી છે. આ આક્રમણના મૂળ સાધનો મુસ્લિમ તવારીખો મો મળે છે. પણ અનેક સામગ્રીઓ જોયા પછી તેમાં તથ્ય ઓછુ છે એમ જોઈ શકાય છે.
