'કમઠાણ' આ પુસ્તકમાં હાસ્યમય અને રહસ્યમય કથા ઓ છે. રાતના દોઢેકને સુમારે રઘલો એક મકાનના છાપરામાં ભગદાળું પાડીને, દોરડાને બેવડ મોભ સાથે બાંધીને કમરમાં ઉતરેલો.માથા પરનો હજુરિયો છોડીને, તેણે ગજવામાંથી ટોર્ચ કાઢી અને હજુરિયો તેના કાચ પર બાંધીને ઝાખું અજવાળું કર્યું હતું.... ત્યારે તે ચોકી ઉઠ્યો હતો... જે ઘરમાં તે ઉતર્યો હતો તે ઇન્સ્પેકટર રાઠોડનું ઘર હતું.... કંઈક દ્વિધામાં તે થોડી મીનીટો ઉભો રહ્યો....પછી નિર્ણય લીધો અને રાઠોડસાહેબના યુનિફોર્મ, પિસ્તોલ, ચંદ્રકો અને ત્રણ હજાર રૂપિયાની માલમતા ઉઠાવીને ફરાર થયેલો.
